KEVIN REID AND “CHAMP”

Kevin Reid has been an artist since childhood.  He has created comic strip characters, as
well as superheroes and their enemies.  During the many trials he and his family endured
through his early years, Kevin sought refuge by means of a pencil and paper.

At the age of 10, Kevin developed a passion to impact others with his art.   At the age of 18,
Kevin began his quest to take his art to another level, with his first creation, Fleep, a strip
about a dog with a crazed imagination and a quest to be the world’s greatest magician.

When time allows, Kevin exercises his passion for illustrating comic book characters.  He has
created a landmark character named “Dominion”, which has evolved into a forthcoming novel
and screenplay, both of which are in the early stages of agent representation.

Kevin put his drawing on hold to focus on his family until a new addition inspired him.   The
newest member, Champ-a Rottweiler Lab mix, gave the Reid family something to chat about
with his zany personality and desire to eat anything in site.  It was easy to create the “Champ”
comic strip after experiencing the real thing.

Kevin turned his attention to the newspapers to see what comic strips were working.  He also
focused on what he could do differently.  The first thing that caught his attention was the lack
of comic strips that included a young boy and his dog.  Kevin began doodling with sketches
of dogs and kids, patterning the art after his own dog and his eight-year-old son.

Champ is the sarcastic, yet fun-loving star of the strip; and Eddie is his young owner who
tolerates and enjoys him.
